“…But let justice run down like water, And righteousness like a mighty stream.”– Amos 5:24, New King James Bible
I’m not a religious man.
But to all of my friends and family who do identify as followers of Christ and who have seen the injustice perpetrated against our brothers & sisters of color and have spoken up and stood up in their defense, I want you to know: I see you. I love you. I’m very proud to stand with you.
I may not share your faith, but I do share your love for humankind and this beautiful planet we’re so lucky to inhabit.
This moment is a call to repentance.
A call for all those with authority to reflect, to recognize their own roles in perpetrating injustice, to apologize, to repair themselves so that we can all heal as a people. The police and the callous political leaders, they must come to us. This is their time to take action. We are waiting for them. We are demanding it of them.
“Let justice run down like water, And righteousness like a mighty stream.”
To those who identity as followers of Christ but have been silent or defiant in this moment. I see you too. You are not who you claim to be.
